The painting depicts Guru Nanak’s belief that God is one, all human beings are His children. No one is high, no one is low. No one is good and no one is bad. All are equal in the eyes of God. All the religions are good. They are the different paths to reach the Almighty.
Guru Nanak is shown sitting cross legged, with Bala standing and Mardana sitting near the Guru playing the Rabab. So many people have come to listen to the Guru. There are people from different religions as we can see from their dress. A pandit, Maulvi, Muslims, Christian, old and young from different religions are shown sitting together in front of the Guru and listening to Guru’s message.
The Guru always preached that all human beings are equal in the eyes of God. High or low, good or bad, worthy or unworthy, rich or poor, all are His children. God does not discriminate His children. Guru’s first finger is pointing towards God clearly stating that God is one. Human beings, nature and everything surrounding us are his creations.
